Item 10-10-92 $1.00 1992 and the 500th Anniversary of Christopher Columbus’ voyage to the Americas was marked in Syracuse by a community-wide observance coordinated by the Columbus Quincentennial Commission, created by Mayor Tom Young and County Executive Nick Pirro. The Syracuse Stamp Club, in conjunction with the City of Syracuse/Onondaga County Christopher Columbus Quincentennial Commission and the United States Postal Service, celebrated the event with a special cancel and cacheted cover. The cachet shows the Columbus Quincentennial Commission logo. The stamps are one of the four First Voyage of Columbus stamps showing Columbus: “Seeking Queen Isabella’s Support”, “Crossing the Atlantic”, “Approaching Land”, and “Coming Ashore.” << Back to Main Covers Page >> |
