Elvis FDC (Official Memphis cancel)

Item 01-08-93-TN

$5.00

Elvis Fans United of Syracuse, who remember the man by doing good in his name, hosted their annual jamboree on January 10, 1993, at the Castaways in Brewerton, New York.  The benefits have raised more than $33,000 for area charities since the King was laid to rest.  The 1993 beneficiary was the Pediatrics AIDS Unit of the State University of New York Health Science Center at Syracuse, New York.

The Syracuse Stamp Club, in conjunction with the Elvis Fans United of Syracuse, celebrated this event with a cacheted cover.  The cover features the 1993 Elvis Presley stamp (Scott #2721) cancelled at Syracuse, NY Main Post Office on January 8, 1993, the first day of issue of the stamp.

The cachet was designed by Jay Draper, a local free-lance artist.
